🔐

Your Privacy Comes First

IsQRSecure works entirely offline by default. No data is collected, no accounts are required, and no network requests are made. Your scan history stays on your device and can be deleted at any time. The app uses only your camera to scan QR codes, and that's the only permission it needs.

The app includes an optional Live Threat List feature that, when enabled by the user, connects to GitHub and isthisqrsecure.com to download updated threat indicators and community-reported URLs. Users can also choose to report suspicious URLs, which are submitted to isthisqrsecure.com. These features are disabled by default and require explicit consent. No personal data, scan history, or device information is ever sent.

FAQ

"If it's free, surely I'm the product?"

No, you're not. This is a personal project I built with the assistance of AI tooling and a few hundred pounds over a couple of days. There is no business model, no data harvesting, no advertising, and no investors.

The intention is simply to protect people and make them aware of the dangers of QR phishing. As a security consultant, I see people falling for these scams regularly, and there was no free, straightforward tool to help them at the moment it matters most.

This is my opportunity to give something to the world and make a difference, for which I am honoured.
